We write further to your request which was received on 23 March 2022 and which states:

Kind regards" Our answer to your request is detailed below: The information held by the Department regarding the cost and amount of electricity purchased for the Manx Electric Railway (MER) substations covers the period from August 2018 to March 2022; information is not held for the 2016 and 2017 financial years.
The records show the following: Amount, kWh Cost, £ Financial Year 2018/19 (from August 2018) 49,539 18,613 Financial Year 2019/20 45,021 15,803 Financial Year 2020/21 2,244 5,942 Financial Year 2021/22 11,469 10,360 Please note that these figures may include some electricity purchased for the Snaefell Mountain Railway, but this cannot be separated out in the records. This electricity was provided by the Manx Utilities Authority, so all payments were made to them. With regards to the current charging agreement in place with the Manx Utilities Authority, the MER pays the same for electricity as every other industrial customer.
