Summary
A request for annual staff absence days due to mental ill health among front-line health workers from 2019 to 2022 was partially fulfilled, with data provided for 2019-2021 but 2022 figures withheld due to system issues.
Key Facts
- 2022 data is unavailable due to system issues.
- The provided figures cover all staff in Health Medical, Dental, and Manx Pay Terms groups, not just front-line workers.
- It is not possible to determine the proportion of staff who are primarily patient-facing.

Dear ###
We write further to your request which was received on 15th March 2022 which states:
"How many days of staff absence have their been among front line health workers (doctors, nurses, paramedics etc) each year broken down by year between 2019 and 2022 (to date) inclusive?"
Our Response Unfortunately 2022 data is currently unavailable due to system issues. These figures are for all staff in the Health Medical and Dental Groups i.e. Doctors and Dentists and Manx Pay Terms and Conditions group, e.g. nurses, health care assistants, therapists, theatre practitioners etc. It is not possible to determine from the information we hold what proportion are primarily patient facing. Also, due to redeployment throughout the pandemic that there was considerable flexibility in how staff were deployed. Please also note, absences at the end of 2021 may be artificially inflated if managers did not close open absences promptly.
