If possible can this be broken down by year and dental practice/area If you have figures for people who have been referred to private treatment from NHS dentists for root canals I'd like this too.

Our response Question 1: Please can you tell me how many people have had root canal treatment on the NHS via a NHS dentist since 2016 (including 2016) up to 16th February 2022. If possible can this be broken down by year and dental practice/area. The total number of patients who have received root canal treatment via an NHS claim from 1st April 2015 to 22nd February 2022 is 4,061. A full breakdown of when and at what practice these treatments occurred can be found within the attached table.

In terms of the data within the table, this does not take account of any changes in practice owners/contract providers over the time period. The data demonstrates the actual NHS claims made for root canal treatments and the number of patients these claims relate to. Therefore if the number of claims is higher than the number of patients, this demonstrates that some patients had more than 1 root canal treatment claimed for within the yearly period. Question 2: If you have figures for people who have been referred to private treatment from NHS dentists for root canals I'd like this too. While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide the information you have requested; Manx Care does not hold the information on private dental referrals or practices that the applicant has requested (section 11(3)(a) of the Act).
