Dear ###
We write further to your request which was received on 16th February 2022 and which
states:
1. Please can you confirm the funding that a school receives per pupil each year for
attending primary school and high school on the Island?
2. Please can you confirm what funding is provided per year for Home Educated
Children who are both primary and high school age?
Our response to your request is as follows:
I have attached a copy of the information that is held in respect of part one of your
request. The attached figures represent the amount of funding each school has
received, per pupil, for the academic year 2021/2022.
Please note the amount of funding allocated per pupil per year varies as the
calculations are based on each individual primary and secondary school, the individual
school’s annual budget and the number of pupil’s on roll (as of September). The
variances between the amount of funding each pupil receives arises largely due to
fixed costs that are incurred (such as premises costs, building maintenance, heating
and lighting costs) regardless of the size of the school and the number of pupils taught
therein.
The funding per pupil figure does not include funding for Special Educational Needs
(SEN) as this varies from school to school and is based on the number of pupils on the
SEN register.
In respect of part two of your request, while our aim is to provide information
whenever possible, in this instance the pubic authority does not hold the information
as funding is not provided for children that are home educated.
Please quote the reference number 2271221 in any future communications.
