Dear

We write further to your request which was received on 15 February 2022 and which states:

"Under the freedom of Information act,

I would like to see a full copy of the Isle of Man VAT sharing agreement with the United Kingdom?"

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, under section 20 of the Act, we are not required to provide information in response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible to you, whether free of charge or on payment of a fee.

In this case, the information requested is in the public domain and can be found on the Customs and Excise Division’s website as follows:

The ‘VAT sharing agreement’ is available here: Customs & Excise Agreement 2018.

The method for calculating the Island’s share of ‘common duties’ (predominantly VAT) is available here.

For this reason, an exemption under section 20 of the Act applies to the disclosure of this information.

Please quote the reference number 2268090 in any future communications.
