We write further to your request which was received on 24 January 2022 and which states:
"Since July 2021, can you advise 1. how much it has cost the Department of Infrastructure to use the former Lord Street bus station site as a car park in rent/ other payments to site owner? 2. how much income has been made through use of the car park (pay and display and contract spaces) 3. does this income go to DoI, site owner or is it split between the two."
Our response to your request is as follows: 1. The Department of Infrastructure holds an Operating Licence with the site owner to allow the Department to use the site (former Lord Street bus station) for car parking. The Licence commenced on 16th June 2021 and the Licence fee due to the site owner is calculated as 20% of the Department’s gross takings from the car parking. The Licence fee paid by the Department to the site owners for the period of 16th June 2021 up to and including 19th January 2022 is £26,346.37. There are no other payments due to the site owner as per the terms of the Licence. 2. The total income received through use of the car park for the period 16th June 2021 up to and including 19th January 2022 is £131,731.85. 3. The total income received for the use of the car park is received by the Department of Infrastructure. However, as detailed in part 1 of the response above, the Licence fee (calculated as 20% of the Department’s gross takings from the car parking) is paid by the Department to the site owner. Please quote the reference number 2209786 in any future communications.
