We write further to your request which was received on 21 January 2022 and which states:

Our response to your request is as follows: 1) Refurbishment of a section of highway from Lheaney Road to Ramsey Hairpin which comprises of excavation of the highway to formation level, reconstruction of highway, installation of new kerbing & footpath, final resurfacing and road lining. Highway Maintenance work will be undertaken whilst the Mountain Road is closed, these activities are as follows:- i. Ditching and surface water drainage improvements; ii. Centre and edge line recovery; iii. Cat’s Eye replacement; iv. Verge Masters replacement. Works are also being undertaken at the Creg-Ny-Baa junction to improve the temporary traffic signal set-up and the installation of a barrier. The works include the replacement of the traffic signal control unit, cabling, loop
reinstatement and testing along with the installation of signage to enable the road to become one-way during TT fortnight. 2) Lheaney Road – Although not specifically requested by the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU), the ACU are fully supportive of the requirement for these works to be carried out due to the potential effect that these works not being undertaken could have on a license being issued for TT 2022. 3) Lheaney Road, Ramsey Reconstruction/Overlay - The estimated cost of these works is £200,000. Highway Maintenance - The estimated ongoing cost for highway maintenance is £81,864.36 4) Although some of the activities and associated costs above support the TT event they have not specifically been requested by the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU). Please quote the reference number 2206557 in any future communications.
