We write further to your request which was received on 6 January 2022 and which states:
"1) What were the total monetary costs (internal and external) to the Financial Services Authority in proceedings relating to the Advocates Disciplinary Tribunal reference 2020/07*?
2) What were the total monetary costs (internal and external) to the Financial Services Authority in proceedings relating to Advocates Disciplinary Tribunals from September 2000 to May 2021?"
*We understand that the originally quoted reference 2006-07 is to be construed as reference 2020/07 and so we respond to you on that basis.
Our responses to your requests are as follows:
Response to your “Request 1”:
In relation to Advocates Disciplinary Tribunal reference 2020/07 there were external legal costs of £59,317.96 (exclusive of VAT where applicable) incurred by the Isle of Man Financial Services Authority (‘Authority’) and no internal monetary costs (over and above routine employment and operational costs which form part of the Authority’s usual overhead expense) incurred. The external fees and expenses were incurred by the Authority over a period of eight months.
Response to your “Request 2”:
In accordance with section 4(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2015, the Act applies only in relation to information created on or after 11 October 2011 and so we have not included any information created on or before 10 October 2011 in our response.
For the period 11 October 2011 to date, the total monetary costs (both internal and external) to the Authority in connection with Advocates Disciplinary Tribunal proceedings were as stated in response to Request 1 above.
