Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on 6 January 2022 and which states:

"How many suicides and inquest verdicts of suicide were recorded on the Isle of Man between 1 January - 31 December 2021?"

Figures held by the Cabinet Office, Public Health show that during 2021 there were 11 registered deaths with a verdict of suicide – all were subject to inquest. It should be noted that these are deaths registered within this time period which is different from the date of death occurring. The time taken from death until inquest verdict can be significant, therefore this total will include deaths that occurred prior to 2021 and will exclude some that have occurred but are yet to have an inquest.
