Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on 15 December 2021 and which states:

"Further to FOI 1861725, please provide an update to these numbers to current date for Q1 & Q2." Our response: FOI 1861715 Question 1: How many influenza hospitalisations and deaths per year from 2010 to current year. Manx Care published this information on 19th July 2021, the information can be found in the disclosure log: https://www.gov.im/about-the- government/freedom-of-information/freedom-of-information-responses/ Update on the numbers for the period 1st July 2021 to 31st December 2021 is one admission and zero deaths. FOI 1861715 Question 2: How many pneumonia hospitalisations and deaths per year from 2010 to current year. Manx Care published this information on 19th July 2021, the information can be found in the disclosure log: https://www.gov.im/about-the- government/freedom-of-information/freedom-of-information-responses/ Update on the numbers for the period 1st July 2021 to 31st December 2021 is 393 patient admissions with a diagnosis of pneumonia, however, this may not be the primary reason for admission. 60 patients of the 393 patient admissions have the discharge reason as ‘patient died’. In both influenza and pneumonia data above, the number of deaths refer to the discharge reason of the patient from hospital, and the identified condition. However, this may not be the cause of death, which can only be determined from the death certificate which is not readily available to Manx Care. Please quote the reference number 2148102 in any future communications.
