We write further to your request which was received on 29th November 2021 which states:

"Q1. Please list the dates & times of the all the patients that were transferred from Nobles Hospital to Abbotswood nursing home who died of covid and had covid wrote on the death certificate? Q2. The number of deaths in 2015,2016,2017,2018,2019,2020, 2021- to the present date 27th nov 21? Q3. The number of people diagnosed with cancer in 2018,2019,2020,2021- to the present date 27th nov 21? Q4. Number of people attending a&e with heart attacks or strokes in 2018,2019,2020,2021- to the present date 27th nov 21? Q5. Number of miscarriages in 2017,2018,2019,2020,2021- to the present date 27th nov 21?"

Our Responses Q1. Please list the dates & times of the all the patients that were transferred from Nobles Hospital to Abbotswood nursing home who died of covid and had covid wrote on the death certificate? There is no record of any patient being transferred back from Noble’s Hospital to Abbotswood during the Covid-19 outbreak period who subsequently died of Covid-19 Q2. The number of deaths in 2015,2016,2017,2018,2019,2020, 2021- to the present date 27th nov 21? While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Manx Care is unable to provide the information that you have requested. This is in line with Section 11(3)a of the Act, as a practical refusal reason applies; namely we do not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find the information that you have requested. Manx Care do not hold information on all deaths on the Isle of Man. However, you may wish to re-submit your request to the Department for Enterprise who are responsible for the civil registry of deaths: www.gov.im/births-deaths-and-marriages/records-held You may also find the Mortality Reports from 2015 to 2019 of interest: these are available at www.gov.im/cabinet-office/public-health/health-intelligence/mortality-reporting

Q3. The number of people diagnosed with cancer in 2018,2019,2020,2021- to the present date 27th Nov 21? While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested. Complying with the request for information would require Manx Care to do one or more of the matters mentioned in section 8(3) (things a public authority is not required to do by the Act S11(3)(b), in this instance, it would require us to create or derive information from information that we hold. Manx Care do not hold all the data relating to cancer diagnoses. However you may wish to re- submit your request to the Cabinet Office who collate the Cancer Incidence Report – this is split by gender and then 3-year rolling averages are used to avoid small number issues i.e. discoverability and annual fluctuations typical of a small population. Q4. Number of people attending a&e with heart attacks or strokes in 2018,2019,2020,2021- to the present date 27th nov 21? Q5. Number of miscarriages in 2017,2018,2019,2020,2021- to the present date 27th Nov 21?" Please note, many early miscarriages are not be reported.
