Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on 23 November 2021 and which states:

"Fastyr mie, Please can you send: a) 2010-2021 (all years inclusive) data on how many asylum applications the Isle of Man received (in excel .csv format) b) how many asylum applications were accepted Many thanks in advance."

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Cabinet Office does not hold the information that you have requested. The Isle of Man does not have legislative provisions to support asylum claims, and therefore there is no ability for an individual to submit an application for asylum in the Island. As there are no legislative provisions for an asylum application to be made, during the period of 2010 to 2021, the Island has received zero applications for asylum and has approved zero applications for asylum. The Isle of Man benefits from an arrangement with the United Kingdom Government whereby it will accept the return of asylum seekers in cases where the individual concerned, having entered the Island via the UK, would have had opportunity to claim asylum in the UK. For individuals entering the Isle of Man not via the UK, the Island's Immigration Service, under present arrangements, works with the UK to achieve a satisfactory outcome.
