Dear ###
We write further to your request which was received on 22 November 2021 and which states:
"The figure of people resident on the Isle of Man broken down on a yearly basis since 1980 to date. The number of residents based in the parish of Michael broken down on a yearly basis since 1980 to date. The number of residents based in the village of Jurby broken down on a yearly basis since 1980 to date."
Our response to your request is as follows:
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, under section 20 of the Act, we are not required to provide information in response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible to you, whether free of charge or on payment of a fee. The information that you have requested is available online or is held at the Tynwald Library. Population figures for the Island and its subdivisions exist only for years in which a census has been conducted. For the requested period, this consists of the years 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011, and 2016. For the years 1996 and later, these figures can be found in reports hosted on the Government Census website at https://www.gov.im/Census. Reports earlier than this can be viewed in the Tynwald Library, Ground Floor, Clerk of Tynwald's Office, Legislative Buildings, Finch Road, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 3PW. Telephone: 01624 685520. The figures are not in respect of Jurby village. Please note that these reports contain population figures for the parish of Jurby and not the village of the same name. At the time of your request, we cannot answer for 2021 as we do not hold the information for the 2021 Census figures as they are in the process of being reviewed with the aim to publish them in the first quarter of next year. It is planned that the Census will go to the register of business in February, at which point it should be viewable by the public. Then it will be laid before Tynwald in March, after which it will be formally published.
