I write further to your request which was received on 3 November 2021, which asks:

  1. The total number of resident individual tax returns for the year ended 5 April 2021 submitted to the Income Tax Division on or before 6 October deadline and therefore not attracting a late return penalty.

  2. Within the above total the number which were submitted using Isle of Man Government Online Tax Services.

  3. The total number of tax return penalties issued in respect of resident individual tax returns for the year ended 5 April 2021 not submitted on or before 6 October deadline.

Our response to your request is as follows:

  1. There were 50,631 resident individual returns submitted on or before the 6th October 2021.

  2. Within this total number of returns received, 28,877 (57%) were filed through the Isle of Man Government Online Tax Services

  3. As at 1st November 2021 there have been 5,579 resident individual penalties issued in respect of tax returns for the year ended 5 April 2021. (Please be aware that within this number, a percentage will have since had their penalty cancelled or reduced due to appeals or based on actual assessment liability and some may continue to be cancelled or reduced as the relevant year assessment is raised or appeals received.)
