We write further to your request which was received on 22 July 2021 and which states:

"How many applications for 'Modification' of Direction Notices have been made over the life of the Public Health Protection Covid Regulations? How many have been modified? How many have been withdrawn? How many people have the delegated powers to issue or withdraw Direction Notices." Our response to your request is as follows: "How many applications for 'Modification' of Direction Notices have been made over the life of the Public Health Protection Covid Regulations?” While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Cabinet Office does not hold some of the information that you have requested. We do not hold the number of applications that have been made by returning residents for modified direction notices. There has been 332 Key Worker applications for modified direction notices. “How many have been modified?” 310 Key Workers. 258 Returning Residents. “How many have been withdrawn?” 14 withdrawn (and 8 declined) for Key Workers. No modified direction notices have been withdrawn for Returning Residents. “How many people have the delegated powers to issue or withdraw Direction Notices."

There are 51 current authorisations for individual officers to carry out the Chief Secretary’s Public Health Regulation functions. Please quote the reference number 1919933 in any future communications.
