Our ref: 1865560 30 June 2021
We write further to your request which was received on 24 June 2021 and which states:
"Since October 2011, for the St Mark Roads A26 Braaid Road - especially where able to focus on the Ballavarvane Farm area (between Ballakew Lodge and Bridge Nursery's section, as attached) , please provide: 1) the number of traffic accidents, incidents, near miss or other reportable actions 2) where possible what was the nature or basis for these reports - ie: weather related (tree down or debris), driving conditions (ice/snow/rain), exit/entry onto highway etc. 3) any other reports or recommendations relating to traffic or highway issues on this section of road."
Our response to your request is as follows: I have detailed below the information that is being released to you. Data was reviewed for both recorded road traffic collisions and reported traffic incidents for period from start of November 2011 to end of May 2021. Prior to April 2015 it is not possible to review detail of the causes of traffic incidents. The area reviewed was for events mapped in a rectangle between X grid references 229620 and 231605, Y grid references 474150 and 475900. Irrelevant results were reviewed and excluded (for example, incidents not related to traffic on Braaid Road). The focus area of the road, between Ballakew Lodge and Bridge Nurseries (named the Ballavarvane section in this report), was used to select key incidents. Note, in maps provided, some traffic incidents on Braaid Road were mapped to premises they occurred outside, rather than exact location on road.
