Dear ###

This request is being handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2015.

We write further to your request which was received on 2 June 2021 and which states:

"Can you please provide a breakdown over the last 5 years, per month on how much plastic cutlery has been used and the cost associated with this.."

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance, complying with your request for information would require Manx Care to undertake substantial compilation or collation of information that it hold, which Manx Care is not required to do under section 11(3)(b) of the Act. However, we can advise that for the last three years we have been purchasing disposal wooden cutlery or, when this is unavailable, a plant based alternative to plastic known as ‘vegware’ that is biodegradable and can be composted. This is in response to the “Single Use Plastics Reduction Plan for the Isle of Man Government” established in 2018. Please see Appendix 1 for more information. Please quote the reference number 1820933 in any future communications.
