Regarding the temporary marquee for the storage of tramcars at Summerland, planning application 19/00186/B submitted in February 2019 until April 2020 and then 20/00399/B submitted in April 2020 to extend the use of the marquee for an additional year (due to Covid delaying the completion of the new depot): 1) Was the marquee purchased or is it being rented? 2) Please confirm purchase amount or give full details of rental costs incurred so far and estimated costs going onwards. 3) Please confirm the date that the new Strathallan Horse Tram depot was completed and handed over to the Department. 4) Provide details of why the marquee wasn't dismantled/removed immediately after that date. 5) Provide details of what the marquee has been used for between that date (question 3) and the current date. 6) Are the Department confident that the structure can be removed and the land restored to it's former condition before the current planning permission expires on 1st June 2021, and what are the estimated costs for doing so? 7) If the marquee was purchased, what is it earmarked for next, or will it be destroyed/written off?

We write further to your request which was received on 8 March 2021 and which states (sic):

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, under section 20 of the Act, we are not required to provide information in response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible to you, whether free of charge or on payment of a fee. The contract completion date was on the 26 June 2020. 4. The marquee was being used to store trams prior to moving in to the new depot. A planning application 20/00399/B to extend the duration of the marquee in this location was submitted on 16th April 2020 and granted until 1st June 2021. 5. The marquee has been used for storage of trams and vehicles.
6. Yes, the Department will be able to remove the marquee if coronavirus restrictions permit this type of work. The removal of the marquee will be subject to a pricing exercise on the purchasing portal and as such this information is not available. 7. One potential future use of the marquee is subject to a separate planning application (21/00051/B) but other options are being considered.
