COVID-19 Direction Notice for Category A person (resident arrival)

Public Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations 2020

Direction Notice & Written Self-Isolation Modification for: NAME

Commencement Date: is the date of the first day of the next set of shifts or single shift due to be worked by you on behalf of the Steam Packet Company (“SPCo”) after the date of issue of this Direction Notice

The Chief Secretary, by virtue of the powers contained within the Public Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations 2020 (the “Public Health Regulations”), now gives you this Direction Notice in accordance with Regulation 10 of and paragraph 6(13) of the Schedule to the Public Health Regulations which requires you to self-isolate for a period of 21 days, with the first day being the day after arrival on the Island, and the last day being midday on the 21st day (“the Specified Period”).

This Direction Notice specifies the conditions you must adhere to by law.

Your Direction Notice to Self-Isolate

This Direction Notice is issued by the Chief Secretary.

Pursuant to Regulation 10 of the Public Health Regulations, you are hereby required and directed to:

  1. Self-isolate at the notified place as declared by you on the SPCo record and remain at the notified place for the Specified Period subject to any qualification for exemption as outlined in paragraph 2.

  2. Pursuant to Regulation 10(3)(b) of and paragraph 6(14) of the Schedule to the Public Health Regulations, you will be exempted from the provisions of paragraph 1 if you have met to the following requirements:

a) whilst on duty in working for the SPCo you have complied with all the conditions in the Steam Packet Company Risk Assessment (attached to this Direction Notice per Note 2 below);

b) you have undergone a Biological Sample Test at the start and end of your current duty period as member of the crew on any vessel operated by the SPCo. (See Note 6).

c) you have arrived on island during or following the end of your period of regular scheduled work on an SPCo vessel in your capacity as a crew member employed by the SPCo. V3 Issued 25 Februry 2021 SPCo Manx Crew Direction Notice

  1. Telephone 111 for further advice if you or any other person in your household develops relevant symptoms.

  2. If you intend to visit a Care Facility on the Island you must only attend by prior arrangement with the Management of the Care Facility.

  3. When attending a health facility on the Island you should inform that health facility of your status as a crew member employed by the SPCo and subject to modified self-isolation as set out in this Direction Notice prior to attending.

Note 1: Notified Place Means the address you have provided to the SPCo as the place you reside on the Isle of Man

Note 2: Steam Packet Company Risk Assessment A copy of this risk assessment is attached to this Direction Notice.

Note 3: Biological Sample Test

Means a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test or such other biological test as required by the Chief Secretary to be used in the testing of SPCo employees for the determination of exemption under the requirements of this Direction Notice.

Should any test return a positive result, a further period of self-isolation will commence and a further direction notice will be served.

Note 4: Reason for arrival on island This Direction Notice is only applicable when a person is returning to the island having been off island to perform employment duties on a vessel as a member of crew on a vessel operated by the SPCo. If you travel off island on a vessel or aircraft for any other reason you are bound by the separate Direction Notice that will be issued when you arrive on island.

Note 5: The commencement date of your Specified Period has been captured on behalf of the Chief Secretary and will be disclosed to an authorised officer in order that this Direction can be enforced in the event of any breach, or for the purpose of monitoring ongoing compliance with this Direction Notice. Details of the commencement date will be obtained from the crew rota schedules.

Note 6: Duty period means each shift cycle of work with no more than 7 days between each test.
