We write further to your request which was received on 11 January 2021 and which states:
"1. How many arrests have been made on the island for breaching the Emergency Powers Act, since 20th March 2020? 2. How many of these arrests were of non-residents who had travelled to the island with an exemption certificate since 20th March 2020? 3. How many people have been charged under the Emergency Powers Act, since 20th March 2020? Please break this information down into the following age categories: Under 16 years, 16-17 years, 18-22 years, 23-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60-69 years, 70-79 years, over 80 years."
Our response to your request is as follows: I have detailed below the information that is being released to you. Results 1. 160 arrests have been recorded between 20/03/2020 and 17/01/2021 where at least one of the arrest reasons was for a Covid-19 offence. 2. Of the 145 individuals arrested (some residents have been arrested more than once) 16 were non-residents. The data relating to whether these individuals had exemption certificates is not held by the Constabulary. 3. 83 arrests resulted in the person being charged for the Covid-19 offence(s) (other reasons for arrest for these records may have different outcomes) Breakdown by age range for the three questions (there have been no arrests recorded for persons over 80 for Covid-19 offences to date): 2.
