"I seek the following information in respect of each Island primary and secondary school: The number of pupils on the school roll broken down by year group and sex (male/female) within year group; The number of pupils on the school roll in receipt of FSM; The number of pupils on the school roll classed as having AEN (or SEN) broken down by degree of need e.g. School Action, School Action Plus, HLN (Mainstream), HLN (Unit) etc; The number of pupils on the school roll with EAL; (where percentages are recorded for FSM, AEN/SEN and EAL these are also requested)"
Our response to your request is as follows: School Roll Data While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, under section 20 of the Act, we are not required to provide information in response to a request if it is already reasonably accessible to you, whether free of charge or on payment of a fee. Free School Meal (FSM) Data I have enclosed copies of the information which details the number of pupils on free school meals in each school up to and including 14 January 2021. Special Educational Needs (SEN) Data I have enclosed copies of the information which details the number of pupils in each school with special educational needs.
English as an Additional Language (EAL) Data I have enclosed copies of the information which details the number of pupils in each school with English as an additional language. Percentages of FSM, SEN and EAL Data While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Department does not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find some of the information that you have requested. This is because the percentages of FSM, SEN and EAL data is not currently held by the Department. Where the data is not held in the format that has been requested section 8 (3) of the Freedom of Information Act 2015 states; Nothing in this Act requires a public authority to – (a) Create or derive information from information that it holds (b) Undertake research into, or analysis of, information that it holds. Please quote the reference number 1613509 in any future communications.
