Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on 13 November 2020 and which states:

"In the past three years, how many discarded/suspected explosive devices (whether remnants of war or otherwise) required specialist disposal? Is there any extra cost involved to the constabulary for these situations?"

Our response to your request is as follows: I have detailed below the information that is being released to you. Records indicate that there have been 12 such incidents. The Constabulary works in partnership with other agencies and whist there have been deployments often the Constabulary is either assisting or assisted by the Coastguard. Constabulary records indicated where they have been the lead or there has been no EOD deployment i.e. this has not been undertaken in all cases. Any costs, with the exception of the 08/11/2020 incident in which an overnight stay was necessary due to restrictions on COVID 19, that the expenses shown below are in Constabulary overtime alone, and no other charges are levied.
