Dear ###
We write further to your request which was received on 14 October 2020 and which states (sic): Housing Please can you advise how many residents have been able to remain in their public sector housing after receiving over £100,000 or obtaining a property, please could you give the figures for the last 5 years to include 2020? Our aim is to provide information whenever possible. In this instance, the information you have requested is not held by the Department of Infrastructure for the purposes of the Act as the Department only holds current financial data for its tenants in cases where reviews of the financial eligibility for public sector housing for particular tenants have been carried out recently. However, I can confirm that the Department does take action with respect to existing tenants having substantial means available to them, but only on evidence-based intelligence; each considered on a case by case basis. The number of cases such as this is extremely low and in every case during the last five years, the outcome has been that the tenancy has been surrendered and the property made available to another tenant assessed as eligible for public sector housing. Please quote the reference number 1514729 in any future communications.
