We write further to your request which was received on 24 September 2020 and which states (sic):

"There have been a number of freedom of information requests , showing there has been defective work undertaken on the new Douglas Promenade . A section has been redacted here as it contains your views rather than what information is being requested. Please list the total faults recorded to date by the Department of Infrastructure and in each case, state if they have been fixed, what the cost was to the Department for fixing the defects and how many known defects are still to be rectified."

Under the Contract, the contractor is responsible for correcting any defective work, whether this is notified through the Contract or not. The cost for correcting the defect is borne wholly by the Contractor. Attached as Appendix 1 is the current list of defects notified under the Contract; the list identifies which defects remain current, have been corrected or have been accepted.
Please note that notified defects do not have to be rectified until the end of the defects correction period – this period follows the completion date for the scheme. Please quote the reference number 1486170 in any future communications.
