Summary

A request was made regarding Ramsey Grammar School uniform suppliers, specifically asking about alternative purchasing options, selection processes, and potential financial kickbacks. The Department of Education confirmed that blazers can be bought elsewhere with patches, PE kits are exclusive to JAC Stores, and the school earns no money from these suppliers.

Key Facts

  • School blazers can be purchased from various stockists other than Top-To-Toe, and badges are available from the school for sewing.
  • PE kit items are commissioned from a specific supplier and are only available from JAC Stores.
  • Top-To-Toe and JAC Stores were selected because they were the only local suppliers interested when the school ceased direct sales.
  • Suppliers agreed to charge prices previously set by Ramsey Grammar School, with no subsequent school involvement in price adjustments.
  • Ramsey Grammar School does not earn any money, fixed fees, or percentage cash back from its relationship with Top-To-Toe or JAC Stores.

Original Request

Are school blazers available anywhere else other than Top-To-Toe? (For example can parents buy school patches to sew onto other blazers or have plain blazers embroidered?) Are PE kit items available anywhere else other than JAC Stores? How are suppliers for uniform/kit selected? Was the price of the items set by or approved by Ramsey Grammar School? Does Ramsey Grammar School earn any amount of money from it's relationship with either Top-to-Toe or JAC Stores? If so is this based on a fixed fee for being the school's supplier or on a percentage/cash back basis for items produced? If yes how much income was earned this way by the school in the last couple of years?
