Dear ###
We write further to your request which was received on 16 July 2020 and which states (sic) - numbered for ease of reference:
"Dear Sir, the Mori poll that has gone to some households on the IOM 1. how was the public selected to receive this poll on the Island and 2. how much are Mori charging the Dept of Infrastructure for this?"
1. The survey is administered by Ipsos MORI who generate the sample from the Small Users File which is a sub-file of the Postal Address File (we do not use the electoral register because it is not an inclusive sampling frame). A random probability sampling approach is used. This means that each address has a known, and equal, chance of selection. The Department has no involvement in the selection of addresses and, indeed, does not know the addresses. 2. The Department has paid £9950 for 3000 postal surveys to be sent to Isle of Man residents. This is an inclusive cost for the survey to be sent, all replies logged and for the survey results to be interpreted. This survey is undertaken by over 100 local authorities and the results bench marked. Please quote the reference number 1372237 in any future communications.
