Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on 8 July 2020 and which states:

"Please would you confirm which body is responsible for checking that all telecommunications installations and equipment have appropriate insurance in place."

Our response to your request is as follows: The Communications Commission’s role is to licence telecommunications systems in accordance with the requirements under the Telecommunications Act 1984. There is no legal requirement to have liability insurance in place under this piece of legislation and the Communications Commission would therefore not carry out such checks. It would be for the telecommunications service provider itself to ensure that it had all necessary insurance(s) in place.
