Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on 14th May 2020 and which states:

"How many individuals 60 years old or under in 2015 who have been inpatients on the Island at a mental health facility in 2015 have since died."

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide the information you have requested; the Department of Health and Social Care does not hold the information that you have requested (Section 11(3)(a) of the Act). However, you may find it useful to know, that the Department is aware of eleven (11) individuals who were inpatients who have since died. The inpatients were residing at a mental health facility on the Island between 1st January and 31st December 2015, who were aged 60 years or under. This figure is correct as of 2nd June 2020. The Department does not have a policy to maintain records once an individual patient has been discharged from the Mental Health Service, so as such anyone who was not known to the service at the time of their death will not have the date of their death recorded on our patient database. Please quote the reference number 1290945 in any future communications.
