Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on 5 February 2020 and which states (sic), numbered for ease of reference:

"1. How much revenue does Peel marina create annually? 2. How many Manx resident use the berths provided? 3. What is the cost of removing the 44,000 tonnes of silt, including the preparation of the dumping site? (https://www.gov.im/news/2020/jan/08/peel-marina-dredging-project-gets-under- way/) 4. How often will the marina be dredged after this initial scheme?"

Our response follows: 1. The income generated from Peel Marina pontoons is as follows: Financial year Income from annual leases Income from short term leases Pontoon discounts Total income Berths occupied* 2017/18 £111,926.96 £5,809.31 £20,174.16 £97,562.11 88 2018/19 £108,772.56 £10,809.01 £17,451.51 £102,130.06 84 2019/20 £119,029.91 £6,908.35 £29,683.50 £96,254.76 82 * Total available pontoon berths = 120 The above figures exclude income from the wall berths, which is held in a general account. It is not possible to separate out the income specific to Peel wall berths. 2. All of the contracts, both short and long-term, are held by Manx residents. Visitors will use available pontoon berths during the summer season for short-term stays. The income from visitors in respect of Peel Marina averages approximately £30,000 per year.

3. The total cost of dredging the silt and preparation of the Strategic Waste Landfill Site to accommodate the silt is £6,291,736. The project cost of the works to dredge and dewater the silt at Peel and transport it to Turkeylands is £3,981,736. The budget for the development of the Strategic Waste Landfill Facility at Turkeylands is £1,711,000, plus Peel Marina Project will contribute a further £599,000, bringing the total for the development to £2,310,000. 4. The Department plans to undertake regular maintenance dredging of the marina following the main dredging project. While annual dredging is anticipated, the frequency will be dependent on a number of factors, including the amount of silt brought down by the River Neb, the size and make-up of the silt and locations where it settles in the marina.
