Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on the 17th January 2020 and states:

"Question 1: How many patients have been admitted to our Islands' Acute Mental Health Units (Grenaigh Court and Mannanin Court) since the 1st January 2014? Question 2: Of those patients how many are now deceased? Question 3: How many cases were terminal ill patients?"

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the public authority does not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find some of the information that you have requested.

I have detailed below the information that is held. Question 1: How many patients have been admitted to our Islands' Acute Mental Health Units (Grenaigh Court and Mannanin Court) since the 1st January 2014? There has been 616 patients (1308 admissions) to the Acute Mental Health Unit since the 1st January 2014.

Question 2:
Of those patients how many are now deceased? For the period 1st January 2014 to the 31st December 2019 there have been 48. Question 3: How many cases were terminal ill patients? While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance Department of Health and Social Care (“the Department”) is unable to provide the information you have requested. This is in line with section 11(3)a of the Act, as a practical refusal reason applies; namely we do not hold or cannot, after taking reasonable steps to do so, find the information that you have requested. Mental Health Services does not collate this data.
