Dear ###

We write further to your request which was received on the 7th November 2019 and states:

"Question 1: How many patients in Nobles Hospital were transferred over the last 12 months to Ramsey Cottage Hospital? Question 2: Were they asked if they wanted to move and what steps were taken if they declined?"

Our response to your request is as follows: Question 1: How many patients in Nobles Hospital were transferred over the last 12 months to Ramsey Cottage Hospital? For the period 1st November 2018 to the 31st October 2019, 268 patients were transferred from Nobles Hospital to Ramsey Cottage Hospital. Question 2: Were they asked if they wanted to move and what steps were taken if they declined?" All patients are asked if they would like to move from an inpatient bed in Noble’s to Ramsey. This is normally undertaken by nursing staff in the first instance during the initial assessment as to whether a patient fits the Martin Ward (located in Ramsey Cottage Hospital) referral criteria. If a patient meets the criteria, they are referred to the Consultant who covers Martin Ward to undertake a formal assessment, at which point the patient is asked again if they are happy to transfer to Martin Ward for the next phase of their care, such as rehabilitation or continuing medical care. If a patient declines to transfer to Ramsey, their care continues at Noble’s.
