Dear ###
We write further to your request which was received on 31 October 2019 and which states:
"How long has cabbage been operative Has to date had any breakdowns and what has been the cost of correcting these and who paid for it"
Whilst we have no vehicle “cabbage”, we infer that the request refers to the diesel loco No 21. If so, the information requested is below. The Diesel loco 21 completed testing and recommenced operation in service on 22nd August 2019 and ran on scheduled services until Friday 25th October It has suffered no breakdowns up to this date, however, an issue occurred whereby the loco experienced an abnormal current draw on one of the traction motors. This could be potentially indicative of a developing problem and it was decided to withdraw the loco from service as a precautionary measure to prevent the risk of any damage being caused to the motor concerned. There has been no cost for correcting any breakdown. Investigation work will be undertaken to identify the cause of the concern and any rectification work will be undertaken accordingly.
