Dear ###
We write further to your request which was received on the 17th October 2019 and states:
"Question 1: How much funding has the Drug and Alcohol Team received per year over the last 5 years? Question 2: Currently what specific plans are in place to improve the service and/or raise awareness of the service?"
Our response to your request is as follows: I have detailed below the information that is being released to you. Question 1: How much funding has the Drug and Alcohol Team received per year over the last 5 years? Year Funding £ 2015 to 2016 641,100 2016 to 2017 693,600 2017 to 2018 867,989 2018 to 2019 882,230 2019 to 2020 837,321
Question 2:
Currently what specific plans are in place to improve the service and/or
raise awareness of the service?
The Isle of Man’s Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) is establishing a
bespoke, integrated, professionally managed, cost effective, Core Recovery Service
with common pathways and assessment processes. This service will follow the stepped
care model of delivery, as outlined in the Strategic Plan for Mental Health and
Wellbeing 2015-2020. Please see the link for this document:
https://www.gov.im/media/1353553/strategic-plan-for-mental-health-and-wellbeing-
2015-2020.pdf
The overall aim is to develop and maintain a fit for purpose, local, evidence based,
accessible, person centred addiction service, based on a hub and spoke model. This
will increase options available for individuals and families whose lives are affected by
addictions. It will create shared pathways for referral, treatment and rehabilitation as
well as consistent, common assessments particularly with Mental Health Services.
Shared care with Primary Care Services is crucial for this model to be successful.
Effective partnership working is essential to the success of the developments and that
for this to take place there will be clear protocols in place. It is envisioned that this
project will be publicly launched and widely publicised in the media when it is
complete.
